Ohio U. Recap 9/13/2014
Sep 13, 2014 - Ohio U. Recap
Miami @ OU
The Reds started off their first league match of the season with a big win over Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Within minutes, the Reds wound up in great field position thanks to some precision penalty kicking.
Starting crisp, Miami took an early lead - a maul inside the 5 metre line gave the Reds the first score of the game. The tone was set for a physical game. After a few Miami miscues near the goal line, OU would achieve its first try. This only provoked Miami to charge back down the field, matching the Bobcats with a conversion of their own. Backed up into their try zone, OU was forced to kick out.
Unfortunately, Miami scrumhalf Matt Parrish was awarded the first yellow card of the season for a late hit on the Bobcat kicker. Miami‘‘s offensive presence was temporarily slowed going into the half. After returning to full force, the Reds seemed to take control of the momentum - adding a powerful try from senior lock, Mark Hensley. Time expired ending in a 37-19 Miami victory.
Although satisfying to get the first league notch on their belt, Miami looks to regroup, improve offensive consistency and reduce total penalties at home vs. a Ball State team who had beaten OU the previous week, next Saturday.
