Ball State Recap 9/20/2014
Sep 20, 2014 - Ball State Recap
Ball State @ Miami
Heading into the first of two MAC cross over games, the Reds hosted Ball State at home. On the opening kickoff, Ball State wove through the Miami defense, quickly going up 5-0. After remembering where they were, and what they were doing, Miami responded with two tries to reclaim the lead. Both go ahead scores were breakaways from centers, Jimmy Duffy and Austin Schneider.
During Ball State‘‘s next attack, scrumhalf Matt Parrish knocked the ball out of a Ball State forward‘‘s hands just before he had a chance to touch down a try. After some stout goal line play and hard rucking, Miami was able to hold - eventually gaining possession and booting out into midfield.
Ball State touted a very large forward pack but the Reds stepped up to hold their own. The Reds made some impressive defensive stands and countered well on the backline attack to keep the game in their favor. The Reds would stay on top for the remainder of the game, ending with a final score of 39-20.
Resuming divisional league play, Miami hosts MAC newcomers, The Louisville Cardinals. Miami looks to maintain defensive intensity, correct common miscues, and extend their regular season record to 3-0.
Man of the Match - Connor Murray
Tries and field goals galore - senior captain fly half, Connor Murray, receives Man of the Match awards. Connor had three tries on the day and a few conversion/penalty field goals to keep the Reds on top.
